Yes I'm being attacked!

I’m super passionate about the environment, and always try to challenge myself to do more things that reduce my personal footprint. But I think the biggest thing for me is to stress that people should not look at environmentalism or environmental change as something that is all or nothing. It’s like riding a bike really. You take small risks in order to become more experienced and confident.

So yah start with the small steps and honestly just adopting one new thing environmentally into your life actually has a huge effect in the world. Think about how much of an impact one of your changes will have when 10, 100, or 1000 other people are doing that same thing. Yep…it’s just that cool!

For a long time I was kinda cynical about change, but it was the Otesha Project that really had a huge impact on my life. I rode my bike across British Columbia (1800 KM) for two months with 20 other totally amazing peeps. We pushed ourselves to be as sustainable as possible on our tour, which resulted in me becoming a vegan [once I get home I might switch back to being a full on vegan again for now I'm just a lazy vegan]. We presented the Otesha skit, did workshops, and talked about social justice and environmental issues to youth in Junior High and High Schools. Youth have such amazing power in this world..it’s awesome!

These days I’m working for a crew in Australia called Cycle for Sustainability who are very similar to the Otesha Project. We are trying to build more awareness about the project, get funding, create a few tours for the summer of 2008, and heaps more things! It’s a pretty exciting time for me right now. On my off time I’ve taken in bits and pieces of Australia (well I toured around the country for a year in Australia before settling in Melbourne) and it’s beautiful dynamic changing country-side.

Okay perhaps I’ll add something to this later at some point.

Peace, bike grease, dumpstered fleece, & love!
